Austin is home to one of the few remaining steam train museums in the country. The Austin Steam Train Association Museum invites passengers to experience the era of historic railroading firsthand. The museum is located at 401 E Whitestone Blvd C-100, Cedar Park, TX 78613. The museum features restored vintage train cars that have been updated with modern conveniences. The museum offers educational activities and excursions for the entire family.

The museum’s collections of locomotives and vintage train cars are extensive, and the museum’s library and archive are filled with information on the history of steam trains. The museum is located in a historic depot that was built by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad Company in 1887. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
