The playscape at Robinson Park is about to undergo an exciting transformation. The park will feature updated play equipment for all ages, upgraded rubber surfacing, and additional benches and swings. Construction will begin on April 13 and last for approximately five weeks. This project is made possible by donations from the Elevate Denver Bond and Telluride Stone. Check it out here. Robinson Park contains a nature preserve on 151 acres of land. The park is home to oak woodlands and glacial drift hill prairies. The nature preserve is divided into two long narrow ridges that sit on steep valley slopes. You can hike the trails and observe various wildlife, including bobcats and snakes. There are also paved walking paths for you to enjoy.

Despite being a day-use park, Robinson Park is home to several miles of trail that connect with the surrounding parks. Visitors can also access the Illinois River Bluff Trail. A paved trail allows visitors to enjoy the forest’s edge habitat and observe wildlife like egrets and herons. The park also features interpretive signage to help you learn about the park’s natural history.

Robinson Park is part of the DuPont Historical Museum complex and is home to several events organized by the city and the DuPont Historical Society. The park also features a historic Dynamite Train that helped transport goods from the DuPont PowderWorks Plant to the DuPont Wharf. The park was first constructed in 1911 as Colonial Park. It was renamed to Jackie Robinson in 1978. It was opened as a playground for children and later served as a community center.
